CERAMIC DICTIONARY – I NEED YOUR HELP!
I have written a book on the Majolica Method of working, which was accepted by an American publisher, who after messing about with it for 3 years finally said they did not want it. I was obviously disappointed but nevertheless decided to transform it into a web, which has fortunately worked out and become a ceramic dictionary. It is written in English which is my native language but I plan to have it in Catalan and Spanish.
Looking through internet I realised there was not a ceramic dictionary. Hundreds of books published on ceramics but no web for public use and I have not found one ceramic dictionary in Catalan, digital or printed and there are only two printed in Spanish.
I have patented the dictionary as a book and in the future all I am only going to patent are the illustrations. Now this does not mean you cannot copy and use them, but if used for a work that is published then I would like you to notify me and acknowledge by linking my web as near as possible to where it is being used. I want the dictionary to have as many illustrations as possible, drawings and photos, as illustrations are an international language.
The dictionary now has the Catalan and Spanish sections installed but they are empty except for this page of introduction and the connections between the three languages are not yet working. I have had “A” professionally translated and I hope during the next month it will be installed so you can see how it works and you will be able to go directly from a word in one language to the same word in another one. I hope this will inspire you the readers, to help as there are thousands of words missing and translating is very expensive.
The following are just a few of the things I need helpwith.
1) Words that are missing in any of the 3 languages.
2) Translating.
3) Articles on ceramic subjects or specialities; kilns, colours, wood firing, etc.
4) I would appreciate if ceramists wrote on their speciality and method of working. Their articles would be acknowledged by their name and web.
5) When I find a part of a web that would be useful, then with the permission of the owner we could have a link. This can be done in two ways which are explained below – have a look at them and see how it works.
a) Your link is put at the end of the subject it applies to, so the reader can go into the web and directly onto the section that covers the part mentioned. See “A” Airbrushing
b) The part of interest is copied into my web and at the end it is acknowledged with your web so the public can enter it directly onto the page it has been copied from. See “V” Viscosity.
6) If it was possible to send one’s writings in more than one language it would be wonderful.
7) The dictionary and each language have their own email. Please send subjects and questions you have in your own language but if you can put what you have written in one of the others, it would be even better and please send them together.
My book is in English and has been published in a PDJ file. It is in two sections the first gose through the method of working step by step and the second is a glossary on everything that can be used with it and both have many illustration. It has to be bought through internet at the costs of $9,99.
